A Grove City man pleaded guilty to a summary charge of criminal mischief on May 6 after authorities say he broke a window at the Venango County Prison while trying to shake a vending machine.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the Franklin Police Department, the incident happened at the prison on February 19. The complaint states that 41-year-old Patrick Dean Linton was in a room at the facility and attempted to get an item that was stuck in the machine.

The complaint indicates that Linton braced his back against a door window and used his legs to shake the vending machine.  Linton then pressed against the door and the machine, causing the window within the door to break, the complaint continues.

Court records show authorities originally charged Linton with one second-degree misdemeanor count of institutional vandalism and one summary count of criminal mischief.
