As Healthcare Costs Soar, Potter County Democrats Launch Initiative to Relieve Medical Debt for PA Families

The Potter County Democratic Committee announced today that it is joining a national initiative to directly confront the burden of rising medical debt facing working families across Pennsylvania.
In rural communities like Potter County, unexpected medical emergencies too often lead to overwhelming financial distress. To help neighbors regain their footing, the committee is partnering with a statewide effort to collect personal stories and raise funds to systematically abolish medical debt for PA families.
"No family in our county should have to choose between putting food on the table, heating their home, and paying off an unexpected emergency room bill," said Brent Bryant, Chair of the Potter County Democratic Committee. "Relieving medical debt isn't just about clearing numbers off a balance sheet—it’s about giving working families an immediate economic reset, restoring their financial dignity, and keeping hard-earned dollars circulating right here in our local community."
To support the initiative, the committee invites community members to the "Putt Away Medical Debt" fundraiser:
When: Sunday, September 13, 2026
Where: Gary’s Family Resort (Jiffy Pup), Sweden Valley
Details: A family-friendly mini-golf open featuring food, prizes, and trophies.
Admission: $20 per adult | $10 for children 12 and under
All proceeds will go directly toward medical debt relief across Pennsylvania. Community members can participate by signing up via the event registration link (https://bit.ly/4gMBeAY). Contributions to this fundraising campaign directly through the fundraiser's ActBlue donation page (https://bit.ly/46iwCfS).
