Bennie L. LONG Jr., 83, of Galeton, PA

Bennie L. LONG Jr., 83, of Galeton, PA, died Wednesday, August 19, 2026 in Roseview Rehabilitation and Care Center, Williamsport.  Born October 10, 1942, in Coudersport, he was the son of Bennie Leroy and Lillian Dora Brosch Long.  On June 19, 1965, in Galeton, he married Linda Jean Allen, who survives.  


He served honorably with the U.S. Army from 1961 – 1964.  At age eight, he began working with his father in stone masonry.  At age 16, he did the stone work on the Shinglehouse Library.  He worked as a self-employed mason.  Following the 1972 flood, he was employed by ISC in Pittsburgh and his first job was building a stone bridge in English Center, replacing the Bailey bridge.  Beginning in 1981, he began a partnership in water and wastewater work for 22 years.  He was last employed by Lobar, Inc., retiring on his 71st birthday.  Through all his career, he worked with his brother-in-law, John “Jump” Allen.  


Bennie was a member of Valley Alliance Church, Galeton Masonic Lodge and Lewisville Lodge #556 F&AM, and Coudersport Consistory.  An outdoorsman, he traveled far and wide to hunt and fish.  


Surviving besides his wife, Linda, are: five children, Les (JoAnn) Long of Lillington, NC, Danny (Kathy) Long of Cogan Station, Randy (Carole) Long of Airville, Paul (Tammy) Long of Middlebury Center, and Melinda (Mike) Clark of Galeton; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd (Becky) Long of Olean; a sister, Betty Kameck of Olean; nieces and nephews.  


He was predeceased by two grandchildren, Nichole Elizabeth Long and Devon Michael Long; a brother, David Allen Long; and a sister, Lillian Augustini.  


Friends may call at Valley Alliance Church, 4858 Route 6, Wellsboro, PA 16901 on Sunday, August 23, 2026 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 4:00 PM.  Rev. Darryl Eyler will officiate.  Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Tioga County Honor Guard at the beginning of the funeral. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery, Galeton.
