Bradford Area School District 2026-27 Budget Proposal Sparks Debates Over Tax Increase and Savings Strategies

Bradford Area School District’s proposed 2026-27 budget includes a 3.39% tax increase — about $75 more per year on a property assessed at $100,000, district officials said this week. The increase would be only the second increase proposed in the last 22 years, they said, adding they're considering myriad cost-saving efforts — including the potential closure of School Street Elementary.
