6/17/2026 Traffic Stop/Pursuit
On June 17, 2026 at 11:19 pm, Jonathan S. Pickles, 18, of Canandaigua NY, was taken into custody by deputies of the Cattaraugus County Sheriffs Office assigned to the Seneca Nation Allegany Territory. Pickles initially passed deputies on I-86 in the Town of Carrollton at a high rate of speed. Pickles then failed to stop for the activated emergency lights and sirens on a deputies marked patrol car. Pickles continued at a high rate of speed on I-86 through the construction in Carrollton, Great Valley, and Salamanca, passing vehicles in the coned off area and on the right hand side of the road as well. Pickles then exited at Exit 21 and crashed his car going into a ditch, hitting multiple signs, and the guardrail. Pickles was discovered to have a juvenile in the vehicle when deputies made contact. Pickles was evaluated by EMS and transported to Olean General Hospital. Pickles was processed and released on an appearance ticket for Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Pickles is due in the City of Salamanca Court at a later date for further proceedings. Pickles was also issued 13 uniform traffic tickets for return to the Town of Carrollton, Town of Great Valley, and City of Salamanca Courts at a later date. The Cattaraugus County Sheriffs Office was assisted by the City of Salamanca Police Department, Seneca Nation Marshals, New York State Park Police, Seneca Nation EMS, and City of Salamanca Fire/EMS.
6/23/2026 Harassment/Disorderly Conduct Arrest
On June 23, 2026 at 5:09 pm, Tamaycha J. Arce, 25, Josymar Arce, 20,and Jorialys Arce, 8, all of Salamanca were taken into custody stemming from a physical altercation that occurred on June 16th, 2026 at Walmart in the Town of Allegany. Tamaycha, Josymar, and Jorialys were charged with Harassment in the 2nd Degree and Disorderly Conduct, along with being trespassed from Walmart. Tamaycha, Josymar, and Jorialys Arce were processed and issued appearance tickets for Allegany Town Court at a later date.
6/23/2026 Endangering the Welfare of a Child Arrest
On June 23, 2026 at 1:42 pm, Kyle Dugan was arrested on 1 count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Mr. Dugan was transported to the Olean Substation, processed and released with an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Portville Court at a later date.
6/23/2026 Sex Offender Failure to Mail in Annual Verification
On June 23, 2026 at 9:00 am, after an investigation performed by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau, an arrest has been made for 1 count of Failure to Mail in Annual Verification. Edward Conklin, a level 2 sex offender, had allegedly failed to fill out and mail in his Annual Verification that was sent to him on at his registered address of 1795 Yubadam Rd. in the Town of Portville. He was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Portville Court at a later date and time.
06/23/2026 Motor Vehicle Accident
June 23, 2026 1:56PM - The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office is investigating a motor vehicle accident on Route 353 in the Town of Little Valley. A southbound vehicle struck a run-away horse, and subsequently struck a northbound vehicle in a head on collision. Two adults and five children were injured in the collision, with varying injuries. The adults were transported to ECMC and the children were transported to Golisano Childrens Hospital. A third adult was transported to ECMC after being injured from being thrown from a horse, prior to the collision with the vehicle. The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office was assisted by, Cattaraugus County Emergency Services, Little Valley Fire Department, Cattaraugus Fire Department, Randolph Regional EMS, Salamanca City Fire Department, Seneca Nation Fire Department, Seneca EMS, Trans AM Ambulance, Ellicottville/Great Valley EMS, Mercy Flight, STAT MedEvac, LifeNet of NY 7-7. The collision is under investigation.
6/21/2026 Blotter
On June 21, 2026 at 4:44 pm, Christina F. Platt, 42, of Buffalo, NY was taken into custody following a traffic stop in the Town of Great Valley. Further investigation revealed that Platt had an active bench warrant out of West Seneca Police Department. Platt was transported to Country Fair in Springville, where she was turned over to West Seneca Police.
On June 21, 2026 at 1:55 am, Tiffany L. Tarr, 42, of Olean was arrested on an active warrant issued by McKean County, Pennsylvania. Tarr was arraigned in the Town of Allegany Court where she was remanded without bail to the Cattaraugus County Jail to await extradition.
6/18/2026 Criminal Possession of Stolen Property
On June 18, 2026 at 12:50 pm, Samuel Roberts, 80, of Olean,was arrested following an investigation. Investigation revealed that Roberts was in possession of a stolen commercial plate. Roberts was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree and was released on an appearance ticket. Roberts is scheduled to be arraigned on a later date.
Phone Scam Publisher's Clearing House
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning to its residents about scam artists reportedly calling stating they are from Publisher’s Clearinghouse.
They are notifying the individual that they have won and are requesting processing fees. During the conversation they are arranging electronic payment or a meeting place to receive the payment in person. Do not give any personal information over the phone.
If such a call is received, residents are encouraged to call their local police agency.
Phone Scam
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning to its residents about scam artists reportedly calling family members of incarcerated individuals in the Cattaraugus County Jail.
They are informing family members that for a monetary amount the individual could be released from custody. This is a scam. Do not release any personal information. Do not pay any monetary amount over the phone and do not return any phone calls to the individuals.
If such a call is received, residents are encouraged to call their local police agency.
