Fatal Olean Hit-and-Run Claims Life of Nicholas Grant Meyer

A 45-year-old Olean man has died from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run crash that occurred while he was riding his e-bike home from work in the early morning hours of June 20, 2026.
Nicholas “Nick” Grant Meyer, born April 18, 1981, died July 4, 2026, at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, according to family members.
Olean Police previously reported that the crash happened around 2:45 AM near the intersection of Delaware and Queen streets. Meyer was riding an e-bike when he was struck by a vehicle. His family has said investigators believe he was hit from behind.
The driver did not remain at the scene.
Nick’s family has offered a $15,000 reward for information leading to answers in the case.
“If anybody has any information, I don’t care, just anything,” Nick’s brother Luke Meyer said. “We’re talking about a human life here, left for dead on the side of the road.”
Family members say Nick was later found by his wife after she went searching for him.
“They left a father and husband for dead,” Kyle Meyer said after the crash.
In a public plea, Nick’s cousin Jason Gibbons described the heartbreak and anger felt by those who loved him.
“All of our worlds have been turned upside down,” Gibbons wrote. “We are angry, confused, sad and are asking for justice and answers.”
He continued, “In the middle of the night, with no one around to witness or help, a driver struck Nick while he was riding his bike home from work. Did they stop? Did they try to help? Did they see what they did, get scared and ran? Did they even bother to look back?” Gibbons also wrote, “We know they did NOT call 911. They didn’t stay with him or even attempt to help or comfort him.”
In another direct message to the person responsible, he wrote: “You know exactly what you did. You felt the impact. You saw what you left behind. You chose to keep driving.”
Nick’s death has left a deep hole in the Olean community. At The Wing Bar & Grill, where Nick worked and was considered family, coworkers remembered him as far more than an employee. “Nick Meyer wasn’t just an employee at The Wing,” the restaurant shared. “He was one of my biggest supporters since I opened.”
The post described Nick as someone who constantly encouraged the business, promoted it to others, and brought warmth wherever he went. “He was my hype guy for sure,” the post read. “The room was always brighter with Nick in it. Not one day will go by that we don’t stop and think about that contagious smile.”
Nick is remembered as a husband, father, brother, son, cousin, friend, coworker, and beloved member of the Olean community.
“It’s just been incredible how that community has rallied around the situation. It says a lot about Western New York, says a lot about just the Buffalo area, the Southern Tier, just a lot of good-hearted people that when people are down and out, they’ll do what they can to help them,” Kyle told WIVB News.
The overwhelming support has helped carry Nick’s family through an unimaginable tragedy. From neighbors and friends to Bills Mafia, and even Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins reaching out with prayers, the community has reminded them they are not alone. Nick was a devoted Bills fan, making that support especially meaningful.
His family’s plea is simple: someone knows what happened. Please come forward and tell what you know.
