Olean City Fire Department Releases Info About Genesee Street Fire

The Olean Fire Department Platoon “C” was dispatched to a reported structure fire with explosions at 307 Genesee Street at 11:54 Sunday morning. E-40, LA-164, E-41, and C-445 responded on the first alarm. First arriving units were on scene within 4 minutes of dispatch.

Upon arrival, crews initiated a primary search of the structure and located a room-and-contents fire in a second-floor bathroom. The fire was extinguished, and crews transitioned into salvage and overhaul operations.

The OFD Fire Investigation Team has determined the fire to be accidental in nature.

The Olean Fire Department was assisted on scene by the City of Olean Police Department, Trans-Am Ambulance, Cattaraugus County Deputy 4, and the New York State Police. Westons Mills Fire Department, Allegany Fire Department, and Allegany Rescue and EMS provided standby coverage at their respective quarters while OFD units operated on scene.
