Prom Promise at Smethport High School

Today, Prom Promise was held at Smethport High School, welcoming students in grades 10–12 for a powerful and impactful experience. This bi-annual event is a collaborative effort coordinated by Smethport Police, McKean County Department of Emergency Services, and dedicated school staff.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all who made this event possible. A special thank you to the student actors whose performances brought realism and emotion to the scene, as well as the staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare. We also want to recognize Sally Scrivo for her work providing realistic makeup that helped bring the scene to life.

We are deeply appreciative of the support from McKean County Sheriff’s, Port Allegany Ambulance, Smethport Fire Department, Tarbox Funeral Home, McKeirnan’s Bus Garage, Sarah from the District Attorney’s Office, Judge Pavlock, Judge Todd, Pennsylvania State Police – Lewis Run, Marklyn Brown and family, and Mercy Flight, who, despite being unable to fly due to weather conditions, remained committed to the mission.

We also recognize the McKean County 911 telecommunicators—often unseen, yet critical in organizing response efforts and managing the chaos before first responders arrive.

The event was a great success, delivering an important message to our youth about the real and lasting consequences of careless and impaired driving. Our hope is that this experience leaves a lasting impression and encourages safer choices.
