Airport Road in Bellefonte Closing April 20

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that Airport Road will close Monday, April 20, as part of a project to realign the intersection of Route 2002 (Airport Road) and Governor’s Park Road and install a new traffic signal at the intersection of Route 550 and Airport Road. PennDOT issued a Highway Occupancy Permit for Bellefonte Area School District to complete this work, which is not associated with a PennDOT project.

Starting Monday, Airport Road will be closed to through traffic between Route 550 and Governor’s Park Road, however homeowners will have access to their driveways. A detour using Routes 550 and 64 will be in place. Additionally, a temporary roadway will connect Governor’s Park Road and the eastern end of Airport Road for the duration of the project.

PennDOT anticipates the detour remaining in place for 60 days but notes all construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
