6/5/2026 Grand Larceny/Scheme to Defraud Arrest
On June 5, 2026 Cattaraugus County Sheriff Deputies were called to the Town of Perrysburg to investigate a report of an ongoing scam taking place over the phone. The victim was being coerced to withdraw a large sum of money from their bank account and deliver it to scammers claiming to be investigators with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). In these types of scams, the victim is accused of engaging in potential criminal activity and threatened with arrest. They offer a way out of the charges by having the victim make an in-person cash delivery to the scammers. In this case, the Sheriff’s Office was made aware of the scam and when the subjects arrived to take possession of the money, members of the Sheriff’s Office were staged on location and took two males in custody. Those individuals were identified as Ketankumar Vaghela age 31 and Narendrasinh Chavda age 38. The investigation revealed that both parties are undocumented immigrants in the United States illegally.
There is evidence that both have been involved in numerous scams of this nature over some time. They are being charged with grand larceny in the second degree and scheme to defraud in the second degree. Ketankumar Vaghela and Narendrasinh Chavda were arraigned in the Town of Perrysburg Court where they were released under supervision and turned over to federal immigration authorities.
The investigation is ongoing.
Scams of every kind are on the rise and getting more sophisticated. We would like to urge the public to stay vigilant and to call 911 or your local police agency if you or someone you know is being targeted by scammers.
6/2/2026 Criminal Mischief Arrest
On June 2, 2026 at 8:16 pm, Jeffrey Reigle, 60, of Freedom, was arrested following an investigation into a criminal mischief to another persons property. Reigle was processed and released with an appearance ticket to the Town of Freedom Court at a later date.
6/2/2026 Blotter
On June 2, 2026 at 12:27 pm, Denise M See, 37, of Hinsdale, was arrested on a felony bench warrant out of Cattaraugus County Court. She was transported to the Cattaraugus County Jail and held pending further court proceedings.
On June 2, 2026 at 12:10 pm, Samantha Steiner, 36, was taken into custody from the West Seneca PD on a violation of probation warrant out of Cattaraugus County Court. She was transported to the Cattaraugus County Jail and held pending further court proceedings.
On June 2, 2026 at 10:00 am, Sean D. Dewitt, 34, of Olean was arrested following a complaint from Walmart. It was found that Dewitt had entered the store again after being banned from the property back in March of this year. Dewitt was charged with one count of Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree and was released on an appearance ticket. Dewitt is scheduled to be arraigned on a later date.
6/3/2026 Homicide Warrant Arrest
On June 3, 2026 at 2:52 am, Marquel Kennedy, 28, of Buffalo, was arrested by the Deputies of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office assigned to the Seneca Nation Allegany Territory. Marquel was subject to a traffic stop in the Town of Carrollton when he was found to have a valid arrest warrant for homicide out of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office. Marquel was taken into custody without incident and turned over to Genesee County Sheriff’s Office where he was held.
6/3/2026 Menacing/Endangering Arrest
On June 3, 2026 at 12:54 am, Salvador Casares, 47, of Allegany, NY, was taken into custody following a domestic incident that occurred at a residence in the Village of Allegany. At 12:37 am deputies responded to a residence in the Village of Allegany for a report of a female being held at knife-point. Deputies arrived on location quickly discovering that the female victim had exited her apartment through a second story window, seeking safety at a neighboring apartment. The female victim advised deputies that Casares was still in her residence with children. Casares was quickly apprehended after deputies made entry to the residence. Casares was transported the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office Sub Station where he was processed and charged with Menacing in the 2nd Degree- Weapon, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree- Physical Menace, and Aggravated Harassment in the 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. Casares was transported to Hinsdale Town Court for arraignment, where he was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail. Casares will be held awaiting further court proceedings. New York State Police Olean assisted with the incident.
5/28/2026 Failure to Register Sex Offender
On May 28, 2026 at 3:00 pm, after an investigation performed by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau, an arrest has been made for 2 counts of Failure to Register Sex Offender Registry. Ryan S. Bartlett was reported to have failed to mail in his annual sex offender registry verification and not to be living at his registered address. He was sent directly to CCSO Jail and is scheduled to appear in Cattaraugus County Court at a later date and time.
5/31/2026 Harassment Arrest
On May 31, 2026 at 6:49 pm, Chad M. Goss, 38, of Franklinville, NY, was arrested for harassment in the second degree after a physical altercation with a neighbor. Chad M. Goss was arrested and arraigned in Franklinville Town Court, where a stay away order of protection was placed. Chad M. Goss was released and is due back in court at a later date.
