The City of Olean is pleased to announce that a request for funding to support security and technology upgrades for the Olean Police Department has been included in U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer's Fiscal Year 2027 Congressionally Directed Spending requests.
The proposed funding would assist the City in enhancing public safety infrastructure and improving security systems that support the Olean Police Department's operations and service to the community.
While Congressional funding requests remain subject to the federal appropriations process and final approval by Congress, inclusion in Senator Schumer's request package represents an important step in securing federal assistance for this important project.
The City of Olean continues to actively pursue state and federal grant opportunities whenever possible to help fund public safety improvements, infrastructure projects, and other essential municipal services. These efforts help maximize available resources while minimizing the impact on local taxpayers.
We appreciate Senator Schumer's consideration of this request and his continued support for communities across Western New York.
