Dickinson Center, Inc. (DCI), and their parent company Journey Health System, hosted an annual staff service awards celebration on July 30 at their main building in Ridgway, Pennsylvania.

DCI’s Executive Director Jim Prosper, was pleased to announce the 2026 Sis Simons Distinguished Service Award recipient, Betty Johnson, certified peer specialist at DCI.

Prosper said, “I’m excited to announce that Betty Johnson is this year’s award recipient. Congratulations to Betty and we truly appreciate her dedication to the agency.”

The nomination form submitted by Johnson’s supervisor partially stated, “Betty exemplifies the mission, vision and values of Dickinson Center, Inc. through her dedication, compassion and commitment to the individuals she serves. She has built strong professional relationships and is often the first person staff reach out to because of her willingness to help, positive attitude and ability to connect with others.”

She achieved an honorary “life” membership on the Board of Governors until she passed away on July 18, 2001. The Board established the Sis Simons Award to honor her in memory and recognize her significant contributions to Dickinson Center, Inc.
