Family Day & Children’s Health Fair to Kick Off Laurel Festival Next Saturday, June 13

Family Day and The Children’s Health Fair with fun and information for all ages will kick off the weeklong 2026 Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival next Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on The Green in downtown Wellsboro.
Organizing this special event are the Tioga Partnership for Community Health and the Wellsboro Foundation, Inc. Sponsors are the Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce and UPMC Laurel Health Centers. Each youngster participating in Family Day will be given a playground ball in the color of their choice or an 18-inch super flying disc.
Infants to 12-year-olds will be fitted with free bike helmets while supplies last.Families and individuals can visit 47 booths where there will be games to play, some of them for prizes; puzzles to put together; a bubble machine; an obstacle course with prizes; creative projects to do on-site and take home, such as making a musical instrument, sun visors, and friendship and sun bead bracelets, decorating wooden light bulb ornaments and planting seeds in small pots.
At the First Citizens booth will be entry forms for a chance to win an Echo Dot for the Alexa’s Learn and Play at a drawing being held at 1 p.m. on The Green.
Other booths will provide information for children’s health, safety and well-being, such as home safety awareness and teaching youngsters how to be kind to animals and each other; summer programs for youth and adults; foster care and mental health; crime, substance abuse and violence prevention; outdoor recreation opportunities; transportation; 4-H; Head Start; and much more.
Among the many free treasures at the booths will be assorted toys, activity books, coloring books, healthy snacks for children like applesauce and yogurt squeeze pouches; drawstring bags; water bottles; stickers; Frisbees; and pencils.
