Five Austin Students Graduate from the Potter County Youth Leadership Program

On Friday, March 20, we had the privilege of celebrating five outstanding Austin students who graduated from the Potter County Youth Leadership Program, organized by the Potter County Education Council. Representing Austin this year were Marissa Stuckey, Anna Brewer, Lilly Clinger, Carson Cooney, and Brennan Ogden, and we could not be more proud of the way they represented our school and our community.

Over the past several months, these students traveled throughout Potter County once each month to learn more about the opportunities, careers, and organizations that make our county such a special place to live and work. From team-building activities, to meeting local business owners, to learning firsthand about county government and community service, the program challenged them to grow as leaders and to think about the role they can play in the future of our region. They also learned the importance of volunteerism and the impact that young people can have right here in our local communities.

We are especially proud to share that Brennan Ogden was selected by his classmates to serve as the emcee for the graduation ceremony. In addition, the class chose former Austin teacher Mr. Barry Hayman as the keynote speaker for the evening, which made the event even more meaningful for our school.

We would also like to give special recognition to Carson Cooney, who was presented with the Outstanding Program Engagement Award for his dedication, leadership, and positive involvement throughout the program. We are very proud of the way he represented Austin.

Congratulations to Anna, Marissa, Lilly, Carson, and Brennan. Your hard work, leadership, and willingness to represent Austin with pride do not go unnoticed.

In a small school, moments like this mean a lot. Our students may be few in number, but they continue to show that they can stand alongside anyone, anywhere, and make our community proud.
