SEWICKLEY ACADEMY 76, PORT ALLEGANY 29

Using balanced scoring from eight different players, Sewickley Academy ended a historic run for Port Allegany, defeating the Gators 76-29 in the PIAA Class 2A second round on Wednesday night at PennWest Clarion’s Tippin Gym.

“I don’t think anyone would have guessed where we ended up at the start of the season,” Port Allegany head coach Kyle Babcock, whose team started 1-4, said, “Once we got healthy, these guys battled. We had some goals we wanted to achieve. You obviously want to win games like this, but once you get to this point, it’s a bonus. I’m just proud of these guys. We won the NTL and our first-ever state playoff game, so we will take it for what it is.”
