Warren teen charged with attempted criminal homicide; jailed on $500K bail
A Warren man has been taken to the Warren County Prison on $500,000 bail after allegedly stabbing another person in the neck during a dispute early Tuesday morning.
Nathan A. Steinman, 18, of Warren has been charged with first-degree felony criminal attempt – criminal homicide, first-degree felony aggravated assault – attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes injury with extreme indifference, second-degree felony aggravated assault – attempts to cause or causes bodily injury with a deadly weapon and second-degree misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person. Steinman was arraigned this morning by Magisterial District Court Judge Raymond Zydonik, who set bail at $500,000 cash. A preliminary hearing will be held at 1 p.m. May 27 in Zydonik’s court.
According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, Warren police responded to 407 Taft Place for a report of a stabbing to a person’s neck with serious bleeding. Officers found a person in the living room of the home bleeding from his chin and neck. The man was treated by EMS and taken to Warren General Hospital for treatment. Officers saw a cut to the right side of the man’s chin, two cuts on the central area of his neck under his jaw and a cut on the right side near the person’s collarbone.
Police interviewed a witness and Steinman’s mother, who both said there had been a verbal fight between the two when the mother saw Steinman allegedly grab a knife and stab the other man. Steinman’s mother intervened, according to the police report, and Steinman allegedly tried to stab the man again.
