Ashley K. Plants, 30, of Shinglehouse, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 27, 2026.


Born on Wednesday, October 25, 1995 in Coudersport, she was a daughter of David P. and Paula J. Johnston Plants.


Ashley received her GED from Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse. While living in Pittsburgh she was employed by GetGo.


Ashley attended the former Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Shinglehouse and also had attended Crosstown Alliance Church in Wellsville, NY. She loved to collect rocks, photography, antiquing, and history. She was a music fanatic. Her greatest love was caring for her children.


Left to cherish her memory are her parents, David and Paula Plants of Shinglehouse; three children, Kaylee A. Huss, Avallyn Marie Sue Mack, and Nevayda Jean Mack, all at home; her companion, Brock Faulkner of Richburg, NY; two sisters, Brandy J. Plants, of Shinglehouse and Brooke R. (Marcus) Root of Coudersport; a brother, Cody M. Plants of Shinglehouse; her paternal grandmother, Eloise Plants of Ceres; her maternal grandmother, Gloria (Charles) Lute of Allegany, NY; several nieces and nephews; many aunts and uncles; many friends, including Ashley Carpenter and Chrystal Klein; and her lifelong friend, Jamie Roberts.


Ashley was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Paul Plants; and her maternal grandfather, Steven Hathaway.


Family and friends may gather from 11am to 1pm on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 1pm with Pastor Tim Taylor of Crosstown Alliance Church, Shinglehouse, officiating. Burial will be in the Plants Family Cemetery, Shinglehouse.


In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ashley’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959; to Shriners Children’s Erie, Office of Philanthropy, 1645 W. 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.


Ashley’s family has entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
