Big First Inning Leads Port Allegany Past Northern Potter Varsity Panthers

Port Allegany jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Nick Wilfong singled, scoring one run, Chase Boyd drew a walk, scoring one run, Garrin Wright singled, scoring one run, Liam Hawver drew a walk, scoring one run, Brennan Fillhart drew a walk, scoring one run, Lane Gay drew a walk, scoring one run, Kellen Veilleux doubled, scoring two runs, Wilfong tripled, scoring two runs, Aiden Bliss homered to left field, scoring two runs, Hawver singled, scoring one run, and Gay singled, scoring one run.


A single by Wright extended the Port Allegany lead to 15-0 in the bottom of the second inning.

Hawver opened the game for Port Allegany. The pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out one and walking two.


Austin Burdick and Rees Elmadollar were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Northern Potter Varsity Panthers while hitting back-to-back.



Port Allegany collected 10 hits in the game. Wilfong went 3-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Wright collected two hits for Port Allegany in two at bats. Port Allegany had patience at the plate, piling up 10 walks for the game. Fillhart, Boyd, and Veilleux led the team with two free passes each. Hawver, Veilleux, Wilfong, and Bliss each stole multiple bases for Port Allegany. Port Allegany ran wild on the base paths, amassing nine stolen bases for the game. Port Allegany were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Boyd had the most chances in the field with five.


Northern Potter Varsity Panthers play at home on Monday against Oswayo Valley in their next game.
