Port Allegany softball, baseball open season with tandem blowouts over Hubbers

In her first taste of the 2026 action, Bria Wilcox opened her sophomore season with a no-hitter, dominating from the circle as she led the Port Allegany softball team to a season-opening 12-2 win over Smethport.

Through the first two frames, no Lady Hubber could touch anything Wilcox was firing down range as she collected five strikeouts through the first six batters. Meanwhile, the Lady Gators’ own bats erupted early. After Alyssa Taylor opened the day with a lead-off double, she was swiftly brought around home plate one batter later as Mady Errick cracked a hard hit ball down the third baseline. With the tone set early, Port would go on to tally six runs in the opening frame.

Despite allowing another two runs in the top of the second, Smethport eventually found a response in the bottom of the third. With two outs and Payten Lenze on second, the Lady Hubbers brought two runs in by capitalizing on back-to-back Lady Gator errors. Any momentum mustered, however, faded away soon after.
