This past Tuesday, April 14, the Port Allegany boys track team competed against Cameron County. Four walks and a hit batter to the final five batters of the game helped Northern Potter walk off Otto-Eldred, 11-10. The final free pass, to Brandon Furman, scored Conhar Snyder from third with the winning run. Snyder drew the second walk of the sequence, right after Austin Burdick was out at the plate trying to score on a wild pitch. Sophmore Baylee Francis earned her first win on the mound striking out 10 while allowing 2 runs cross. The Oswayo Valley baseball team started the year 1-2 with loses to Cowanesque Valley and Cameron County. The Green Wave started the season on the road in Cowanesque Valley and suffered a 7-1 defeat to the defending District IV champs. The Indians got on the board early with four runs in the first inning before knocking in another two in the second. Jacob Kolby’s two-out walk-off single in the ninth scored Braxtyn Neyman, giving Cameron County a 10-9 win over Bucktail. Gage Trumpie and Neyman had started the inning with back-to-back singles, Neyman’s coming when he tried to bunt Trumpie to second. Cameron County’s Elsie Bresslin was named the NTL girls’ MVP in voting by the league’s coaches, while Otto-Eldred’s Shawn Gray was chosen as Coach of the Year.
